Prep roundup: Eddy scores 36 points, leads GW past Princeton 72-62

  • SPRING VALLEY 82, HURRICANE 50: Madison Morris hit for 25 points while McKenzie Morris scored 18 to lead Spring Valley (12-2) past visiting Hurricane. Madison Morris also grabbed 14 rebounds while Sarah Kelly had 17 assists for the Timberwolves. Abby Watson finished with 28 points and 10 rebounds for the Redskins.
  • SUMMERS 50, SCOTT 49: Shelby Smith hit a layup from an inbounds pass as time expired to give Summers County (11-2) the win. Brandy Morrison was the leading scorer for the Bobcats with 20 points. For Scott, Jaimee Dotson led the way with 22 points.
  • PRINCETON 80, RIPLEY 37: Three Princeton players scored in double figures as the Class AAA No. 6 Tigers cruised to a home win. Mckenzie Akers led Princeton with 18 points, followed by Khadija Payne (16) and Marissa Mullins (14). Chelsey Hager netted 14 points for the Vikings.
  • RICHWOOD 46, MIDLAND TRAIL 33: Jamie Bailey scored 15 points as Richwood posted a home win. Breanna Mazzella added 14 for Richwood (5-8). Madison Syner and Emily Tarte each scored 12 points for Midland Trail (4-8).
  • NICHOLAS 52, CHAPMANVILLE 45: Shealyn Shafer led Nicholas County to the win on the road with a game-high 28 points. Lauren Young added 11 points for the Grizzlies (13-1). For Chapmanville (7-7), Kristin Desrocher scored 23 points.
  • BUFFALO 60, MEADOW BRIDGE 47: Chelsea Parkins recorded a double-double with 17 points and 15 rebounds as host Buffalo defeated Meadow Bridge in the Hometown Invitational Tournament. Paige Roush and Tiffani Baily tallied 16 and 15 points for the Bison (8-4), respectively. Catlin White had 14 points for Meadow Bridge (8-4).
  • CROSS LANES 73, MERCER 28: Courtney Kendrick recorded 25 points as Cross Lanes Christian earned a road win. Juliana Lowery added 19 points for Cross Lanes (13-4) and Laura Jones had 10 points and 13 rebounds. Jamie Brown had 18 points for Mercer Christian.
  • TEAYS VALLEY 53, OHIO VALLEY 38: Gabby Harrah finished with 21 points as Teays Valley Christian (6-6) coasted to the win against Ohio Valley Christian (2-8). Christa Larue had 12 points and Olive Hill scored 10 for Teays Valley. Madison Crank was the leading scorer for Ohio Valley with 17 points.

  • POCAHONTAS 54, MOOREFIELD 28: Tristin Day scored 19 points and had six steals as Pocahontas County (11-4) won on the road. Marka Kane tossed in 10 points for the Warriors. Tara George led Moorefield with nine points.
  • Swimming

  • GW WINS AT YMCA: The George Washington swim team used 13 first-place finishes to win the second annual Charleston Y High School Invitational Saturday at the Charleston YMCA.
  • The Patriots had a combined team score of 895, followed by University (452), Charleston Catholic (271), Cabell Midland (267.5) and South Charleston (259). GW's Anna Davis earned wins in the 50 and 100 freestyle events, while Emily Hageboeck won the 200 freestyle and 100 breaststroke. On the boys side, Nate Carr of Charleston Catholic secured wins in the 50 and 100 freestyle.
