Prep roundup: Wood’s triple-double keys Warriors

QUINCY, W.Va. -- Brittany Wood scored 13 points, pulled down 11 rebounds, and blocked 15 shots as Riverside cruised to a 62-42 home win over Meadow Bridge on Monday in a girls high school basketball game.

Kara Knapp led Riverside (4-12) with 15 points and six assists and Rachael Mills contributed 14 points.

Sarah Fleshman's 13 points paced the Wildcats (8-4) and Chandra Harrah tallied 12.

  • SCOTT 43, POCA 33: Scott raced out to a 13-1 first quarter lead and never looked back. For the Skyhawks (9-6), Ali Whitman led all scorers with 12 points while Jaimee Dotson and Landon McKinney added 11 points apiece. Kendal Sayre scored nine points for the Dots (4-9).
  • HUNTINGTON 71, HURRICANE 34: Kiana Evans netted 16 points as Class AAA No. 6 Huntington cruised to a road win. Audrey Barber had eight points for Hurricane.
  • SPRING VALLEY 70, CAPITAL 40: The host Timberwolves rolled to a win. Madison Morris scored 20 points and had 10 rebounds and six steals for Spring Valley (13-2) while Mackenzie Morris recorded 10 points and Brooke Heck 10. Khadijah Lee had 16 points and 12 rebounds for the Cougars while Briana Harris notched 10 points and 10 rebounds.
  • BELFRY 46, TUG VALLEY 41: Jackie Stack netted 15 points as Belfry (Ky.) downed visiting Tug Valley. Whitney Evans-Kirk scored 16 points for the Panthers and Adreana Vance added 14.
  • CROSS LANES 62, ELK VALLEY 48: Host Cross Lanes Christian got off to a 31-14 start and never looked back. Courtney Kendrick erupted for 29 points for the Warriors (14-4) and Laura Jones scored 15 points and grabbed 14 rebounds. Chelsea Burdette led Elk Valley Christian with 22 points.

  • GREEN. EAST 67, ROCKBRIDGE 59: Two Greenbrier East players posted double-doubles as the Spartans remain undefeated on the season. Rondale Watson had 23 points and 10 rebounds and Obi Romeo had 13 points and 14 boards for Class AAA No. 4 Greenbrier East (13-0). Evan Ramsey contributed 12 points and Bryce Woodliff 10. Andrew Rowsey tallied 32 points for Rockbridge, Va.
  • CROSS LANES 50, ELK VALLEY 31: Grant Humphrey scored a game-best 15 points in leading host Cross Lanes Christian to a win. Austin Davis added 11 points for the Warriors (11-8) and Tyler Corbin chipped in with 10. Daniel Beverly paced Elk Valley Christian (4-8) with 12 points.
