Prep roundup: Morris scores 31 in Capital’s win

Carrington Morris exploded for 31 points, eight rebounds and four steals Thursday night as Capital earned a 64-60 boys basketball victory at Parkersburg.

Also for the Cougars (7-9), Jordan Kinney grabbed eight rebounds. Trevor Britton paced the Big Reds (5-10) with 21 points and Ben Umpleby had 11.

  • GW 61, RIPLEY 54: Luke Eddy netted 26 points as Class AAA No. 10 George Washington earned a road win. Austin Breeden added 11 points for the Patriots (11-3) and Cameron Hoston had 10. Kade Harrison netted a team-high 22 points for the Vikings (5-10) and Casey Smith had 16.
  • BLUEFIELD 68, SCOTT 63: Class AA No. 1 Bluefield downed No. 6 Scott as Anthony Eades netted 22 points for the Beavers and Lykel Collier chipped in 14. Matt Dolan paced the Skyhawks (10-5) with 28 points and Anthony Sigmon added 16.
  • LINCOLN CO. 62, SHERMAN 59: T.J. Arbaugh pumped in 28 points to pace visiting Lincoln County. The Tide's Cody Muncy missed a 3-pointer with four seconds left. Chaz Wiley dropped in 10 points for the Panthers. Duncan Breeden and Corey Smith had 10 points each for Sherman (5-7).
  • ELK VALLEY 74, REGIONAL 49: Tre Suttle scored 38 points to lead Elk Valley Christian to the win. Daniel Beverly finished with 13 points and Jordan Elkins 12 for EVC. For Regional Christian, Jamie Muncy had 15 points.

  • CATHOLIC 67, WAYNE 28: Keifer Hovorka had 16 points and Nick George 14 as Charleston Catholic (10-1) earned a first-round win in the St. Joseph Invitational at the Big Sandy Superstore Arena in Huntington. The Irish meet Wesley Christian (Ky.) in today's finals. Alex Elkins led the Pioneers with 15 points.
