Snow fouls up prep slate
Most games postponed by Friday's storm

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Most every scheduled prep basketball game was wiped out by Friday's snowfall, with some of the games moved to today.

Boys games postponed 24 hours (to 7:30 tonight) included Herbert Hoover at Poca, Hurricane at Winfield and Scott at Sissonville.

One girls game, George Washington at Woodrow Wilson, was switched to 4 p.m. today.

Other boys games called off were Riverside at Princeton (reset for Feb. 2), Chapmanville at Tolsia (no makeup date set), Ravenswood at Point Pleasant (postponed to Feb. 16) and Belfry (Ky.) at Logan in the King Coal Classic (reset for Feb. 4).

Charleston Catholic's small-school division championship game against Wesley Christian (Ky.) during the St. Joseph Invitational at the Big Sandy Superstore Arena in Huntington was switched to 3 p.m. today.

On the girls side, St. Albans at Hurricane, Winfield at Nitro, Cabell Midland at South Charleston, Tolsia at Herbert Hoover, Capital at Ripley, Calhoun County at Clay County, Huntington at Spring Valley, Mingo Central at Lincoln County and Scott at Wayne were all postponed Friday.

The Winfield at Nitro matchup has been rescheduled for 7:30 p.m. Feb. 2, while the Tolsia at Hoover and Calhoun at Clay games have both been reset for 7 p.m. on Feb. 2, while Huntington at Spring Valley, a Class AAA top 10 matchup, is now being played at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 4.
