Advertiser

Rondale Watson heaved in a shot from near halfcourt at the final buzzer Friday night, giving unbeaten Greenbrier East a 63-61 victory over Tug Valley in a state-ranked boys basketball showdown at the King Coal Classic in Logan.

The Spartans (14-0), ranked No. 4 in Class AAA, trailed 61-60 with 1.8 seconds remaining, but had to travel the length of the court to score. Watson, East's top scorer at 23.7 points per game, got the ball and fired in a leaning jumper to win it in thrilling fashion.

Tug Valley (10-3) entered the game ranked No. 2 in Class A.
