Postponements

There's something about Friday games that brings out the worst in the weather.

For the second straight week, most Kanawha Valley boys basketball games were called off following a Friday morning snowfall.

The only game involving a Kanawha or Putnam boys team played Friday was Wheeling Central against Charleston Catholic at Catholic's Athletic Facility on Hillcrest Drive.

Central, which also plays at Winfield at 4 p.m. today, had already made the trip from the Northern Panhandle.

Other boys games wiped out Friday (with makeup dates, if known) were: Nitro at Hurricane (today), Sissonville at Herbert Hoover (3:30 p.m. today), Riverside at Ripley (Monday), St. Albans at Winfield (tentatively Feb. 11) and Spring Valley at South Charleston (Feb. 13).

Also, Buffalo's South Division semifinal game in the Hometown Invitational Tournament against visiting Richwood was postponed until 6 p.m. Monday.

On the girls side, a couple of Cardinal Conference matchups were postponed with Sissonville at Herbert Hoover and Scott at Tolsia. Sissonville and Hoover haven't set a make-up date yet while Scott-Tolsia will be at 7 p.m. on Feb. 9.
