Prep roundup: GW edges Capital in overtime 78-73

Luke Eddy scored seven of his game-high 33 points in overtime as Class AAA No. 10 George Washington held off visiting Capital 78-73 Tuesday in boys basketball.

Cameron Hoston added 12 points for the Patriots (12-4) while Chris Kay had 10. GW outscored Capital 13-8 in the extra period.

Carrington Morris paced the Cougars (7-12) with 29 points. Jordan Kinney chipped in 18 points and Austin Coleman 13.

It was a revenge victory for the Patriots, who lost to Capital 36-35 on Dec. 12.

  • WINFIELD 54, SPRING VALLEY 39: Chris Turner led a balanced effort with 14 points for the visiting Generals (10-7), who outscored the Timberwolves 16-4 in the final period and held their hosts without a field goal. Bear Bellomy added 11 points for Winfield, Zach Fisher had 10 and Brock Pence 10 with a team-best eight rebounds. Greg Herbert led Spring Valley with 18 points.
  • HUNTINGTON 61, ST. ALBANS 44: Arick Nicks scored 24 points and Chancelor Wooding finished with 14 as Huntington (12-4) won at St. Albans. Nathan McNeil led the Red Dragons (4-11) with 19 points.
  • SISSONVILLE 74, MINGO 61: Four Sissonville players scored in double digits as the Indians downed visiting Mingo Central. Sissonville (7-10) was paced by Anthony Best (22 points), Zach Null (15), Bret Rorabaugh (15) and Trent Stowers (11). The Miners were led by Austin Banks with 19 points.
  • HURRICANE 58, MIDLAND 45: Henry Sorsaia scored 21 points as the Redskins used a big second quarter to earn a road victory. Rasaan Harris and Trey Dawson added 10 points each for Hurricane (14-4). Cabell Midland received 10 points from Niles Dailey.
  • POCA 53, CHAPMANVILLE 42: Noah Frampton scored 20 points as Class AA No. 4 Poca downed Chapmanville at home. Matt Chandler contributed 10 points for the Dots (14-2). Mackenzie Martin paced the Tigers (8-7) with 15 points and Brady Cox had 11.
  • SCOTT 60, HOOVER 34: Anthony Sigmon produced 17 points as Class AA No. 9 Scott cruised to a home win. Eric May also had 15 points for the Skyhawks (11-6) and Logan Webb 10. Aaron Burdette led Herbert Hoover with 10 points.
  • LOGAN 57, LINCOLN COUNTY 38: Worm Street scored 13 points and C.J. Williams had 12 as Logan improved to 6-8. T.J. Arbaugh led visiting Lincoln County with 17 points.
  • WYOMING EAST 74, SHADY SPRING 69: Austin Canada scored 29 points and Cody Lester 15 as Wyoming East (11-4) came back from a halftime deficit to beat visiting Shady Spring. Josh Tunstalle and Brett Bowling each added 14 points for the Warriors, while Chase Connor scored a game-high 30 for Shady (7-7).
  • SHERMAN 70, FAYETTEVILLE 65: Zach Semple and Aaron Krise each scored 22 points for Fayetteville (2-12), but it wasn't enough as Sherman won in a Hometown Invitational Tournament consolation game. For the Tide (6-8), Blake Brewer finished with 18 points and Aaron Lowe scored 12. Sherman will face Midland Trail today at home in the next round.
  • VALLEY 70, GREEN. WEST 58: Raeshawn Breckenridge tossed in 21 points and Keyshawn Payne added a season-high 17 as the Greyhounds won in the HIT South Division I semifinals. Arik McGinnis also had 17 points for the Greyhounds (10-4), who play in the division finals Friday against tonight's Buffalo-Richwood winner. Colby Ennis led Greenbrier West (9-4) with 17 points and Zach Johnson had 13.
  • WOODROW 74, RIPLEY 63: Donte Nabors netted 22 points as Class AAA No. 3 Woodrow Wilson (13-4) downed Ripley. Kade Harrison scored a team-high 21 points for the Vikings (6-12).
  • MOUNT VIEW 62, PIKEVIEW 56: Ishmyle Sawyers finished with a game-high 21 points to lead Mount View (10-3) to the win against visiting PikeView. For the Panthers (5-11), Jason Wetzel, Tanner Farley and Zach Meadows each scored 13 points.
  • POINT 61, GALLIA 48: Dillon McCarty netted 22 points in a Point Pleasant home win. Wade Martin added 18 points for the Big Blacks (6-9). Justin Bailey had 12 points for Gallia (Ohio) Academy.
  • WAHAMA 63, TRIMBLE 55: Austin Jordan scored 20 points and Wyatt Zuspan 13 for Wahama. Hunter Bradley and Trenton Gibbs each added 12 points for the White Falcons (7-10). For visiting Trimble (Ohio), Mike Couch had 14 points and Wyatt Bragg 11.
  • CROSS LANES 55, CALVARY 38: Tyler Corbin poured in 27 points and Grant Humphrey 14 as Cross Lanes Christian won at home. Jace Heller scored 15 for Calvary Baptist (10-8) and Trent Spears added 10.
  • TEAYS VALLEY 83, REGIONAL 34: Elias Beacom scored 29 points, Zack Moore added 16 and Justin Wojcieszak 13 as Teays Valley Christian improved to 18-4. Nathan Waters led visiting Regional Christian with 15 points.
  • ELK VALLEY 49, VICTORY 36: Trey Suttle scored 21 points to lead Elk Valley Christian to a win at Victory Christian. For Victory, Hunter Elliot scored a team-high 12 points.

  • GREEN. EAST 77, CATHOLIC 55: Bianca Andre' netted 21 points as Class AAA No. 1 Greenbrier East disposed of visiting Charleston Catholic. Chaunte McDowell chipped in 17 points for the Spartans (15-0) and Elizabeth Romeo had 10. Hanna Gallian tallied 27 points for the Fighting Irish (7-11) and Anna Whelan added 12.
  • CAPITAL 44, SC 30: Dashia Foster finished with 14 points and Keke Walker scored 10 to help Capital (7-7) to a win at South Charleston. Taliah Cashwell scored nine points for the Black Eagles (9-11).
  • ST. ALBANS 44, RIVERSIDE 30: Breanna Propst scored 16 points and Kaitlyn Propst 15 to pace the visiting Red Dragons (9-9) to victory. For the Warriors (6-14), Brittany Wood had 13 blocked shots and six rebounds.
  • SISSONVILLE 77, MINGO 48: Madison Jones exploded for 26 points, including seven 3-pointers, as Class AA No. 10 Sissonville earned a home win. Karli Pinkerton added 23 points for Sissonville (13-5) and Mariah Rhodes had 10. Ashley Curry had 11 for the Miners.
  • CHAPMANVILLE 42, POCA 31: Kristen Desrocher netted 16 points as Chapmanville downed Poca. Katelynn Hall chipped in 12 points for the Tigers (9-8). McKenzie Ball had a game-high 17 points for the Dots (4-15).
  • NICHOLAS 65, BLUEFIELD 33: Shealyn Shafer produced a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds as Class AA No. 3 Nicholas County cruised to a home win. Mykenzie Martin added 14 points for the Grizzlies (15-2). Destiny Sims had 10 points for Bluefield (10-9).
  • MIDLAND TRAIL 54, GREEN. WEST 37: Kennedy Cochran posted a double-double of 18 points and 16 rebounds as Midland Trail earned a home win. Madison Syner added 14 points for the Patriots (5-10). Kristan Harris was the lone Greenbrier West player in double digits with 18 points.
  • PRINCETON 59, SUMMERS 55: Princeton (14-3) outscored Summers County 19-8 in the fourth quarter to escape with a road win. McKenzie Akers scored a game-high 30 points for the Tigers. Tyra Wynes led Summers (11-5) with 15 points.
  • TOLSIA 48, WAYNE 23: Krista Maynard netted 14 points as Tolsia (14-3) rolled past host Wayne. Taylor Bartrum had eight points for the Pioneers.
