Justin "Cookie'' Clinton, the quarterback last year at three-time defending Class AAA champion Martinsburg, has a football offer from the University of Charleston but is waiting to see if he gets any interest in baseball, his favorite sport, where is a standout second baseman and outfielder.
Clinton was the Bulldogs' MVP in last year's title game win in Wheeling against Cabell Midland, rushing 16 times for 101 yards and one touchdown and completing 8 of 14 passes for 125 yards and two more scores.

Winfield linebacker A.J. Covert is scheduled to sign today with Eastern Kentucky, a top Football Championship Subdivision program. He received academic and athletic money, but not a full athletic scholarship.
Scott Levine, a first-team Class AA all-state kicker and punter from Robert C. Byrd, is expected to sign as an invited walk-on at WVU.
Trevond Reese, a slot receiver-defensive back from South Charleston, may sign next week with UC, Middle Tennessee State, Virginia Military Institute or Fordham.

Ryan Switzer, the two-time Kennedy Award winner from George Washington, heads a field of eight high school football players around West Virginia who are expected to sign with Division I programs today.
Switzer, who ran for 5,175 yards and 72 touchdowns his final two seasons at GW, is headed for North Carolina, where he is expected to play slot receiver.
After committing to the Tar Heels last March, Switzer said he's more than ready to finally sign his letter of intent today.
"Yes, it's been too long,'' he said on Monday, "but it's been a great process. It's been fun. I'm ready to move forward and ready to begin the next chapter of my life and start working for the next level.''
Switzer, who will turn 19 on Nov. 4, is one of three GW players scheduled to go D-1 today, joining linebacker Dustin Crouser (North Carolina Charlotte) and receiver Jordan Clay (Air Force).
Other signings around the state are the Martinsburg duo of receiver Cedric Brown (Akron) and lineman Eugene German (Charlotte), Spring Valley fullback-linebacker Elijah Wellman (West Virginia), Parkersburg South defensive back Logan Cox (Akron) and Morgantown receiver Blaine Stewart (James Madison), son of former WVU coach Bill Stewart.
GW will stage a signing ceremony at 10 a.m. today at the school for all its football players making Division I and II commitments. The event will be carried live online by The Media Center at www.themediacenter.tv/live.
Switzer expects to graduate from GW in April and enroll for summer school classes that start in Chapel Hill on May 12. He'll have two summer school sessions under his belt when preseason practice begins, giving him a head start.
"Exactly,'' Switzer said. "I'll be used to it in August when practice comes around.''
