Prep roundup: Buffalo boys advance to HIT title game

Laythen Good scored 18 points to help lead Buffalo past visiting Richwood 70-48 and into Friday's Division 1 Southern Regional boys championship game in the Hometown Invitational Tournament.

The Bison (14-1) also got 11 points from Levi Jordan and Jordan Fletcher finished with 10. Buffalo will play at home against Valley in Friday's championship game.

  • ROANE 53, BRAXTON 40: Jacob Neal scored 18 points while Elijah Onwuka grabbed 12 rebounds to lead visiting Roane County (12-4) to the win. Tyler Harper added 12 points for the Raiders while Cody Hilton scored 10 to lead Braxton County (4-12).
  • Tuesday's boys games

     n HURRICANE 71, MIDLAND 60: Henry Sorsaia popped in 21 points as the visiting Redskins used a big second quarter to earn a win. Also for Hurricane (14-4), Rasaan Harris and Trey Dawson scored 10 points each. Cabell Midland received 10 points from Niles Dailey.

  • MIDLAND TRAIL 71, MAN 60: Tyler Skaggs had 28 points and Jake Grimmett 22 as Midland Trail (5-8) of visiting Man. For the Hillbillies (4-14), John Keffer tallied 21 points.
  • Girls

  • WINFIELD 54, NITRO 41: Haeley Moore and Mara Rhoades each finished with 15 points to help push visiting Winfield (10-9) by Nitro. For the Wildcats (9-10), Savannah Shamblin was the leading scorer with 14 points.
  • SPRING VALLEY 76, LOGAN 47: Madison Morris and Brooke Heck scored 17 points apiece and Kassidy Lemons added 15 and Sarah Kelly put in 15 as Spring Valley improved to 16-4 with a road win. Shayna Gore led Logan with 21 points and Monica Mitchell contributed 17 points and 16 rebounds.
  • TOLSIA 52, HOOVER 43: Krista Maynard scored a game-high 19 points to help lead visiting Tolsia (15-3) past Herbert Hoover. For the Huskies (10-7), Emily Thornburg finished with 15 points.
  • MIDLAND 63, RIVERSIDE 18 Cabell Midland jumped out to a 37-4 halftime lead and cruised to the victory. Emily Pitkin tallied 11 points for the Knights (13-5) and Haley Haggerty and Emily Hardin donated 10 points apiece. Sheree Clayborn had six points for short-handed Riverside (6-15), which was without starters Brittany Wood and Kara Knapp. Wood was seventh in scoring in the Mountain State Athletic Conference entering this week, averaging 17.3 points.
  • POINT PLEASANT 58, RIPLEY 30: The Big Blacks outscored the Vikings 36-14 in the second half en route to the home win. Sarah Hussell netted 20 points for Point (7-13) while Katie Bruner added 13 and Andrea Porter 12. Chelsey Hager dropped in 14 points for Ripley (0-18), which trailed 22-16 at the break.
  • SUMMERS 70, GREENBRIER WEST 19: Summers County (12-5) held visiting Greenbrier West to just five points in the first half as the Bobcats cruised to a win. Avery Pivont and Audrey Holley each scored 10 points to lead Summer County. Kristen Harris led Greenbrier West with 10 points.
  • BRAXTON 60, WEBSTER 46: Hunter Sodaro scored 21 points and Ann Golinsky chipped in 14 points to lead Braxton County (13-6) past visiting Webster County. Samantha Stout led the Highlanders (11-7) with 19 points.
