Boys roundup: Sharp-shooting Winfield downs St. Albans 72-56

Winfield hit 28 of 45 shots from the floor, including 10 for 18 from 3-point range, and defeated visiting St. Albans 72-56 in boys basketball Monday night.

Chris Turner led the Generals (11-8) with 21 points while Bear Bellomy (16), Zach Fisher (13) and Jake Lemmerman (10) also finished in double figures.

Nathan McNeil had 21 points for St. Albans and Taylor Clark and Tanner Aliff each added 11.

  • GW 61. PARKERSBURG 51: Luke Eddy dropped in 23 points to pace visiting George Washington to a key victory over the Big Reds (7-12).
  • With the win, the Patriots (14-4) wrap up a spot in the Mountain State Athletic Conference Night of Champions on Saturday at the South Charleston Community Center. GW plays Hurricane in the boys second-place game at 4 p.m.

    For Parkersburg, Dru Aldridge tallied 25 points.

  • TOLSIA 60, SISSONVILLE 56: Terry Davis sank four free throws in the final minute as the Class AA No. 4 Rebels secured a road win.
  • Davis and Austin Brewer both finished with 16 points for Tolsia (13-6) while Brandon Clark had 13.

    For the Indians (7-12), Zach Null posted 18 points while Ryan Kelly had 12 and Trent Stowers had 11.

  • VALLEY 77, NICHOLAS 66: Zac Warden scored 22 points as host Valley turned a 26-14 deficit into a win.
  • Keyshawn Payne added 18 points and Raeshawn Breckenridge 17 for the Greyhounds (12-6).

    Jared Tharp led all scorers with 29 points for Nicholas County (8-9) while Eric Peyatt tallied 18 and Austin Hill 12.

  • BLUEFIELD 94, SCOTT 67: Anthony Eades scored 21 points to lead six double-digit scorers for the host Beavers.
