Girls roundup: Parkersburg South knocks off GW 68-64

Keya Bartlett poured in 32 points as Parkersburg South earned a win in a battle of Class AAA top 10 girls basketball teams, defeating George Washington 68-64 Monday in Parkersburg.

Taryn McCutcheon chipped in with 14 points for No. 7 Parkersburg South (13-6).

Rachel Ward led the way for No. 8 GW (13-7) with 24 points. Hailey Stewart added 17 points and Kelli Jo Harrison scored 14.

  • NITRO 39, POINT 33: Savannah Shamblin scored 14 points to lead all scorers as Nitro earned a win at home.
  • Katie Bruner led Point Pleasant with 11 points.

  • CABELL MIDLAND 63, HURRICANE 45: Sierra Jordan tallied 18 points as Cabell Midland won at home.
  • Alex Ellis and Emily Pikin each chipped in 14 points for the Knights (16-5).

    Abby Watson netted a game-high 23 points for the Redskins (5-15).

  • HOOVER 47, POCA 42: Bailey Aab tallied 13 points as Herbert Hoover picked up a home win.
  • Jordan Marshall also contributed 10 points for the Huskies (11-9).

    Harley Hutchins paced the Dots (4-17) with 12 points and Paula Ord had 11.

  • GREENBRIER EAST 68, CAPITAL 57: Greenbrier East led 42-21 at halftime and cruised to a home win.
  • Bianca Andre' and Shaunte McDowell scored 22 points each for the Class AAA No. 1 Spartans (18-0) and Elizabeth Romeo netted 14.

    Khadijah Lee paced Capital (9-11) with 19 points and Daisha Foster scored 11.

  • BUFFALO 58, SHERMAN 41: Freshman post player Michaela Lewis led the host Bison in the absence of all-state player Chelsey Parkins, who sat out the game because of illness.
  • Lewis turned in a season-high 20 points and 14 rebounds for Buffalo (16-4), which has won 11 in a row. Tiffani Bailey contributed 16 points for the Bison.

    Jordan Lewis totaled 14 points for the Tide (7-12) and Sarah Massey had 10.

  • SCOTT 48, NICHOLAS 41: Julie Conway netted 14 points as Scott upended Class AA No. 3 Nicholas County at home.
  • Jaimee Dotson contributed 11 points for the Skyhawks (12-8). Mykenzie Martin had 14 points for the Grizzlies (16-3) while Lauren Young added 11.

  • LOGAN 73, WINFIELD 45: Shayna Gore filled out the stat sheet with 18 points, 11 rebounds and 13 assists as Logan rolled at home.
  • Monica Mitchell recorded 24 points and 20 rebounds and Hannah Tothe scored 14 points for the Wildcats (10-11).
