Prep roundup: Morris leads Capital past Spring Valley

  • VALLEY 58, MEADOW BRIDGE 55: Zac Warden scored 19 points to help visiting Valley hold on to a win. Henry Barron (12 points) and Raeshawn Breckenridge (10) were also in double figures for the Greyhounds (14-6). Cody White led Meadow Bridge with 19 points, followed by Logan Pomeroy with 14 and Caleb Farr with 10.
  • TUG 76, PENDLETON 34: Tug Valley led 44-10 at the break and cruised to a home win. Austin Brewer led all scorers with 16 points for the Class A No. 1 Panthers and Thomas Baisden chipped in with 15. Logan Raines led Pendleton County with nine points.
  • GREATER BECKLEY 67, CROSS LANES 65: Greater Beckley Christian outscored Cross Lanes Christian 8-6 in overtime for a victory in the Christian School Tournament at Summersville. Javonne Staunton-Bailey led Greater Beckley (13-3) with 21 points and Elisha Kidd and Keith Mullins each had 19. Tyler Corbin led Cross Lanes (17-10) with 29 points and Grant Humphrey scored 19.

  • GREEN. EAST 71, HEDGESVILLE 61: Trailing by a point entering the final quarter, undefeated Greenbrier East dominated the final eight minutes. Bianca Andre' led the host Spartans (21-0) with 33 points, 16 rebounds, five assists and two blocks. Elizabeth Romeo scored 11 points. Alexis Taylor led Hedgesville (14-8) with 13 points and 22 rebounds and Kristen Nunn scored 18 points.
  • NICHOLAS 47, CLAY 43: Nicholas County took a 14-point lead into the final quarter and held on for a win. Shealyn Shafer had 23 points and 18 rebounds for the Class AA No. 3 Grizzlies (17-3) and Mykenzie Martin scored 11. Brittany Gould led No. 5 Clay County (16-5) with 16 points, followed by McKinzee Barker (12) and Kaitlyn Horrocks (10).
  •   BUFFALO 59, VAN 15: Ten players contributed to the scoring as Buffalo defeated visiting Van. Tiffani Bailey led the Bison (18-4) with 17 points.
  • WESTSIDE 61, LOGAN 48: Kristen Hash led a balanced attack for Westside (21-1) with 15 points, Hope Lester and Danielle Brown contributed 13 each and Faith Davis had 12. For Logan (13-8), Shayna Gore had 19 points and nine assists and Monica Mitchell scored 19 points and had 12 rebounds.
  • Thursday's girls game

  • LOGAN 61, CHAPMANVILLE 30: Monical Mitchell scored 19 points and grabbed 17 rebounds for host Logan (13-7). Shayna Gore added 14 points and 13 assists and Summer Collins chipped in 10 points. Autumn Baisden and Jessica Rideout each had seven points for Chapmanville.
