  • Charleston's Jacqueline Carlin has been selected as the conference's weekly honoree in softball and Alderson-Broaddus' Ali Neace has earned pitcher of the week accolades.
  • Carlin went 10 for 20 at the plate for the Golden Eagles last week. She registered four doubles, two home runs and five RBIs.

    Neace tossed a no-hitter for Alderson-Broaddus in a win over Virginia-Lynchburg. Neace worked five innings, struck out 10 and walked just two.

  • Concord's Josh Wenger has been named conference baseball player of the week while Ohio Valley's Chris McIntyre has earned pitcher of the week honors.
  • Wenger led Concord to a 2-1 week, going nine for 13 with three runs scored. He totaled two home runs, 13 RBIs and sported an on-base percentage of .733.

    McIntyre gave up just one run while tossing seven innings in a victory over Virginia State, striking out three and walking just two.

  • WVU SPORTS: Following her second consecutive all-around victory, West Virginia gymnast Kaylyn Millick has been named Varsity Sports Report athlete of the week.

    Millick was stellar at No. 18 Maryland last Sunday, scoring 39.35 and winning the all-around competition. She earned 9.8+ on each event, including a career-best 9.9 on bars for the discipline win. Millick also finished fifth (9.8) on beam, sixth (9.825) on vault and eighth (9.825) on floor.

  • The WVU gymnastics team is ranked in the GymInfo poll, as the Mountaineers check in at No. 25 thanks to a string of four 195.0-plus scores, including two 196.0+ marks and a season-best road score of 195.775 earned at then-No. 18 Maryland last Sunday.

  • CONCORD ALUMNI: Mountain Lion fans and alumni have a special place to gather during the upcoming West Virginia Conference basketball tournament in Charleston.

  • GLENVILLE FOOTBALL: Glenville State senior offensive tackle Mark Jackson has been invited to the NFL Combine Saturday in Indianapolis.

    Jackson, a three-year starter for the Pioneers, will be one of the offensive line prospects working out. In 2012, he was a first-team all-conference honoree for the third year in a row.
