Prep roundup: Valley advances past Meadow Bridge in girls sectional

Host Valley jumped out to a 37-23 lead at halftime and went on to a 63-53 win over Meadow Bridge Tuesday night in the semifinals of the Class A Region 3 Section 2 girls basketball tournament.

Abby Buchan led the charge with 31 points and Alexis Payne added 19 for Valley (11-6), which will play the Fayetteville-Midland Trail winner at 7 p.m. Thursday for the section title at the highest remaining seed.

Calitian White (14 points), Sarah Fleshman (12) and Allison Gilkerson (10) hit double figures for the Wildcats.

  • SUMMERS 64, WYOMING 54: Tyra Wynes poured in 21 points as Summers County earned a Class AA Region 3 Section 1 win at Westside High School.
  • Hayley Shrewsbury and Avery Pivont chipped in 14 points apiece for the Bobcats. Hannah Ford paced Wyoming East with a game-high 23 points.

    Summers County will face Westside for the section title at 7 p.m. Thursday at Westside.

  • WESTSIDE 89, INDEPENDENCE 16: Megan Endicott scored 17 points as Westside secured a Class AA Region 3 Section 1 home win.
  • Faith Davis and Danielle Brown each contributed 14 points for the Renegades.  Kelsey Hart had a team-high seven points for Independence.

    Westside will host Summers County for the section title at 7 p.m. Thursday.

  • TUG VALLEY 58, MONTCALM 32: Adreana Vance netted 22 points as host Tug Valley won a Class A Region 3 Section 1 contest.
  • Hannah Armstrong added 16 points for the Panthers (14-8) while Amber Linville had 13 points and 10 rebounds. Miranda Kendrick produced 13 points for Montcalm (7-15).

    Tug Valley will host Man at 7 p.m. Thursday for the section championship.
