CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The girls high school basketball sectional tournaments will come to an end today around the Kanawha Valley with teams looking to take some momentum into next week's regionals.

The two teams in each sectional final advance to the regionals, but the winners will host a game while the losers must hit the road in the next round.

The two winners of next week's co-regional championships advance to the state tournament.

The AAA regionals are Tuesday, followed by AA Wednesday and Class A Thursday. The state tournament is set for March 6-9.

George Washington, No. 9 in the final Associated Press poll, will host Capital at 7 tonight in the Class AAA Region 3 Section 1 final. The Cougars took the Patriots to overtime last week before falling.

St. Albans visits Winfield at 7:30 p.m. in AAA Region 4 Section 1. The Red Dragons defeated the Generals 53-50 in late January.

Charleston Catholic will take on Class A No. 1 and four-time defending state champion St. Joseph at 7:30 p.m. in Region 4 Section 2 at Buffalo High School. Catholic lost to St. Joe 75-16 in January. (See Page 2B for pairings.)
