Prep roundup: GW boys beat Wheeling Park 45-42

Luke Eddy turned in a 26-point, 11-rebound, six-assist effort as visiting George Washington held off Wheeling Park 45-42 for its seventh consecutive boys basketball victory and improved to 18-4 Thursday night.

Park (10-11) trailed 43-42 in the final minute and forced a five-second count violation on GW. Park then missed two shots and was forced to foul Eddy on the rebound with one second remaining. Eddy made both free throws for the final reading.

Ryan Reinbeau led Park with 15 points.

  • CAPITAL 55, LOGAN 48: Carrington Morris had a double-double with 26 points and 10 rebounds to lead Capital (9-14) to the win at Logan.
  • Chase Preston led the Wildcats (7-15) with 12 points.

  • WEBSTER 94, MIDLAND TRAIL 62: Six-foot-4 senior Brett Morris exploded for 38 points as Webster County closed out its regular season with a home win over Midland Trail.
  • Morris had six 3-pointers to go with 12 rebounds, nine assists and three blocks. Hunter Given added 12 points, Tyler Anderson had 11 and Robbie Cogar scored 10 for the Highlanders (17-3, ranked No. 8 in Class AA).

    Jake Grimmett led Midland Trail with 21 points and Rickie Carter added 11.

  • POCA 57, WAYNE 49: Noah Frampton scored 15 points and Cam Cottrill chipped in with 12 to help lead Poca (16-5) to the win against visiting Wayne.
  • For the Pioneers (6-16), Tucker Watts and Alex Elkins each scored 13 points.

    MINGO CENTRAL 74, HOOVER 52: Alex Lee fired in 21 points and Austin Banks 15 as the visiting Miners vaulted into a big halftime lead and coasted over the short-handed Huskies.
