Dawson to be saluted during boys AAA finals

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Bob Dawson, the former boys basketball coach at South Charleston, is among 10 retired coaches who will be recognized at halftime of the Class AAA boys basketball championship game on March 16 at the Civic Center.

The other honorees to be saluted by the West Virginia Schools Athletic Coaches Association are Dalton Carr, Donnie Davis, Ron Gray, Greg Hill, Mike Lucas, Mike Morrison, Tom Poe, Gerry White and Pat Whitlock.

Dawson posted a record of 395-165 in 24 seasons with the Black Eagles, ranking him fourth all-time among Kanawha Valley boys coaches. He took SC to the state tournament 11 times, including four title-game berths.
