Trinity Christian hires Hostetler as grid coach

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- Former NFL quarterback Jeff Hostetler has his first official coaching gig: He's taking over at Morgantown's Trinity Christian School.

Hostetler led the New York Giants to a Super Bowl victory in 1991, and quarterbacked for the Mountaineers at West Virginia University.

Now he's taking on a team that's moving from six-on-six to traditional 11-man football. Trinity will field a junior varsity team this year and aims to have a varsity team in 2014.

Until now, Hostetler has coached only as a volunteer assistant at University High.

He says he'll be all about hustle and positive reinforcement when it comes to the Warriors.

The Dominion Post says his son, Justin Hostetler, will serve as assistant head coach.

Trinity Superintendent Ken Howard won't say how much the coaches will be paid.
