WVU SPORTS: After leading the Mountaineers to wins over Pitt and Kansas State, West Virginia baseball player Matt Frazer has been named the WVU's Varsity Sports Report athlete of the week.
The Nitro High graduate batted .444 with six runs, one double, one triple, three home runs and eight RBIs. He recorded a hit in all four games and going 4-for-5 with two home runs and five RBIs against Pitt.
The Mountaineers' (13-7, 1-1 Big 12) ranking is based on their 195.78 regional qualifying score (RQS). While WVU notched its fifth 196.0-plus mark (196.05) on March 15 in wins over Maryland (194.8) and Rutgers (194.175), the team's RQS did not change.
