Sophomore J.T. Rogoszewski carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning as host Hurricane knocked off Cabell Midland 3-1 Saturday in prep baseball.
Rogoszewski struck out six and allowed only two hits, helping the Redskins improve to 6-1. Midland's Stephen Beahrs broke up the no-no with a double in the seventh.
Tate Brock, Riley Metz and Alex Dunham each drove in runs for Hurricane.
The Dots (5-1) trailed 5-4 going into the seventh, when Cam Cottrill's RBI double scored Noah Frampton with the tying run. An intentional walk to David Taylor loaded the bases before McClanahan was plunked.
Jake Payne, who was the winning pitcher after coming on in the top of the seventh, provided Poca with its first four runs with a fifth-inning grand slam. Eli Canterbury and Taylor Kuhn each had two RBIs for Cabell Midland.
Hunter White and Craze combined on a three-hitter in the opener as the Huskies took an 11-1 decision in five innings. White struck out seven while Tristan Fields went 3 for 3 with a home run and three RBIs and Shaun Dotson drove in two runs.
Austin Thomas rapped out three hits and drove in a run in the second game for Hoover (6-0) while Fields knocked in two more. Travis Smith had two hits for the Huskies (0-5).
Kevin Szybist drove in two runs for Brighton while Ernie Clement went 2 for 4 with an RBI and Joe Smrcka had two hits, including a double, and knocked in a run. Jared Hale rapped out four hits, including a double, and drove in two for the Black Eagles and Zac Lively had two RBIs.
