HURRICANE 13, UNIVERSITY 0: Courtney Rogers allowed just four hits as the Redskins shut out University in four innings at the Best of the Best tournament in Buffalo. Amber Null hit a pair of home runs and drove in five for Hurricane (17-2) while Addie Fullen went 2 for 3 with a double and three RBIs and Emily Davis tripled and knocked in three.
HURRICANE 11, NICHOLAS 1: The Redskins made quick work of another opponent at the Best of the Best tournament, erupting for 10 runs in the first inning en route to a four-inning victory. Kassi Sargent smashed a three-run homer and Linzie Reynolds laced a triple with two RBIs for Hurricane (18-2).
BUFFALO 8, NICHOLAS 0: Chelsey Parkins threw a one-hit shutout as Buffalo downed Nicholas County in a five-inning mercy-rule contest in the Best of the Best tournament in Buffalo.
Parkins also helped herself at the plate, going 3 for 3 for the Bison (11-2) while Noell Dingess, Taylor Briscoe and Katie Higginbotham each had two hits.
LINCOLN CO. SWEEPS: Brooke West and Faith Huffman allowed just two hits and fanned a combined nine in five innings as Lincoln County earned a pair of quick wins in the Best of the Best, beating Chapmanville 9-0 and Parkersburg South 10-0.
In the first game, Amy Parsons went 2 for 2 with a double and drove in two runs to lead the hitting for the Panthers (15-5). In the nightcap, Sarah Barrett was 3 for 3 with a triple and two RBIs.
RIPLEY 6, ST. ALBANS 4: Ashley Mellinger went 3 for 4 and Mary Brannan was 2 for 4 with a double as the host Vikings (10-3) picked up the victory. Chelsey Hager went the distance for Ripley to get the win. For the Red Dragons (15-3), Ali Haynes, Alyssa Bonham and Mariah Caudill each had two hits.
ROANE COUNTY 18, RAVENSWOOD 9: Cassidy Taylor had four hits with three doubles and five RBIs as Roane County's offense drove it to a six-inning win on the road. Miranda Hall tripled, doubled twice, and drove in a pair of runs for the Raiders (13-0).
Holly Chiles went 2 for 3 with a double and a pair of RBIs for the Red Devils (5-14).
CATHOLIC SWEEPS VAN: Brianna Ross went 3 for 4 and drove in three runs as Charleston Catholic earned a 13-5 win to open a doubleheader at Van. In the nightcap, Emma Sovick (2 for 4) collected five RBIs as the Irish won 16-1.
LINCOLN CO. 6, WINFIELD 0: Brooke West fired a two-hitter and struck out nine and Faith Huffman was 3 for 3 with a double to pace the Panthers (14-5) past the host Generals.
