Bear Bellomy singled home Josh Bumgarner in the bottom of the seventh for the winning run Wednesday night as host Winfield rallied for an 8-7 victory against Poca.
It marked the second one-run win for the Generals (9-10) this week against a state-ranked team. On Monday, Winfield edged Class AAA No. 6 Huntington 11-10.
Poca (11-5), the No. 7 team in the Gazette's Class AA ratings, held a 6-1 lead entering the bottom of the fourth before Winfield came back. Bellomy, Derek Whiteside and David Sneeringer (double, triple, two RBIs) each had two hits for the Generals.
Evan McClanahan (2 for 3) doubled, tripled and drove in a pair for the Dots.
The undefeated Huskies (15-0) scored five in the second and seven in the third, as Austin Thomas, Sean Craze and Shaun Dotson all knocked in two runs. Those three, plus Bird and Cody Bowen, had two hits apiece.
Also for the Greyhounds (13-5), the No. 8 team in the Gazette's Class A state ratings, Arik McGinnis and Raeshawn Breckenridge each had four RBIs and Druw Bowen went 3 for 3 with a double.
Ripley's Chelsea Hager won her pitching duel with Hurricane's Emily Davis, allowing four hits. One of those was Courtney Rogers' two-run homer in the top of the fourth, which Ripley (13-4) answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning.
The Patriots (8-10) made quicker work of the Tigers in the opener, winning 10-0 in four innings behind Ali Ferrell's three-hitter.
GW pounded out 26 hits in the doubleheader. Rabel went 5 of 6 with three doubles, a triple, a home run and three RBIs. Makayla Boggs and Taylor Casto also each went 5 of 6 and combined for five RBIs. Casto pitched the second game, allowing four hits.
Brittany Moore and Meredith Putorek doubled for Princeton in the nightcap.
