Gary Ray, the executive director of the West Virginia SSAC the past six years, has been selected to the Board of Directors for the National Federation of High Schools.
Ray's four-year term with the NFHS began last month when his appointment was approved by the group's national council. He will represent Section 2, which consists of West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, Kentucky, Ohio and Washington, D.C.
Upcoming issues for the NFHS include concussion prevention, coaches education, video streaming of high school events and various rules that govern sports contests.
Past SSAC executive directors who have served on the NFHS Board include Gordon Eismon (1959-60, 1969-72) and Bill Hanlin (1986-89).
