Soccer roundup: Hurricane girls drop Parkersburg

PARKERSBURG 7, HURRICANE 3: Tyler Bro and Immanuel Opoku-Duah tallied two goals apiece for the host Big Reds in a come-from-behind win after falling behind by three goals. Guillermo Ugarte scored twice for the Redskins (2-1-1) and Chris Smith pitched in one. It was a matchup of last year's AAA state championship game in which Hurricane won.
CAPITAL 4, SPRING VALLEY 2: Jacob Curry scored two goals for the host Cougars. Tristan Slater and Fernando Martinez added one goal apiece for Capital (3-1). For the Timberwolves, Levi Masters and Hunter Waugaman had one goal apiece.
NITRO 3, PRINCETON 2: Matt Kahn netted the winning goal with seven minutes left for the visiting Wildcats. Dylan Cavender and J.P. Mawyer chipped in one goal each for Nitro (2-2). Will Hickman tallied twice for the Tigers (1-2-1).
SISSONVILLE 5, POINT PLEASANT 0: Chase McVey tallied a pair of goals for the host Indians. Josh Rawson and Doug Harding chipped in one goal apiece for Sissonville (3-0-1) and J.R. Stricklen turned in five saves to preserve the shutout.
GW 3, WINFIELD 0: Peter Nelson had two goals for George Washington in a win over the visiting Generals (1-2-1). Patrick Davis added a goal while Garrett Phillips was credited with the shutout for the Patriots (4-0).
SCOTT 4, HOOVER 0: Nick Ravy tallied two goals for the visiting Skyhawks (2-1) and Ronald Mulligan and Ryan Cowan added a goal apiece. Brett Strickland had nine saves for the Huskies (1-3).
CROSS LANES 8, WOOD CO. 0: Tyler Corbin paced the host Warriors with three goals in a win over the Wildcats (2-1). Ian George added two goals for Cross Lanes (2-0) along with a goal apiece from Josh Pauley, Kyle Davis and Ryan Corbin.
RIPLEY 2, MIDLAND 0: Remy Boyce and JoJo Greeley-Fay turned in one goal apiece for the host Vikings. Caleb Jennings made seven saves for the shutout for Ripley (3-1).
