Winfield's Chris Turner (front) catches a pass in the end zone for a touchdown against Cabell Midland.
St. Albans (1-3) at Riverside (0-5): The Warriors and Ripley are the lone winless teams in the Mountain State Athletic Conference, and this appears to be Riverside's best bet to pull off a victory.
The Warriors beat the Red Dragons 44-27 last year with a balanced attack, running for 326 yards and three TDs and passing for 105 and two more scores, including one to running back Will Jackson. SA threw for 286 yards in last year's game against Riverside and Noah Reed ranks seventh in the MSAC with 451 passing yards.
Ripley (0-5) at Nitro (1-3): The Vikings, the MSAC's other winless squad, try to keep their hex going against the Wildcats. Ripley won last year's meeting 48-20 and also downed the Wildcats 39-22 in 2011.
Nitro will have to contend with Ripley receiver Kade Harrison, who ranks second in the league in receiving yards (397) and TD catches (six), but the Wildcats feature the MSAC's fifth-leading rusher in Brayden Underwood (544 yards, six TDs).
Herbert Hoover (1-3) at Poca (1-4): Two Cardinal Conference teams trying to catch a break, as the Huskies have lost games by six and four points, and the Dots two games by seven and three points.
Hoover won this matchup last year 19-16 as Shaun Dotson carried 19 times for 131 yards and one score. Poca outgained the Huskies in net yards 339-188, but had four turnovers to none for Hoover.
Buffalo (0-5) at Tyler Consolidated (1-4): The Bison's traveling road show stops off in Tyler County, a 21/2-hour drive, to face a team coming off its first win. The Knights beat Calhoun County 43-6 last week after being outscored 128-39 in their first four games.
Jordan Tucker of Buffalo ranks second among Class A players in the state with 821 rushing yards and has scored 15 overall touchdowns.
Meadow Bridge (5-0) at Valley (4-0): This battle of unbeatens will shake up the Class A ratings next week, as the host Greyhounds come in tied for fifth in the playoff rankings, and the Wildcats are ninth.
Valley must handle the charges of Meadow Bridge's Jacob Parker, who leads all Class A players with 1,385 yards and 17 TDs.
