CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- University's Amelia Paladino was named the Gatorade West Virginia girls cross country runner of the year Wednesday.
The senior captured the Class AAA individual state championship this past season, leading the Hawks to a third-place team finish. Paladino earned second place at the Foot Locker South Regional Championships in and garnered All-America status by finishing 11th at the national Foot Locker Cross Country Championships.
Paladino has maintained a 4.12 grade-point average and is a member of the National Honor Society, a student council representative and has volunteered locally on behalf of the West Virginia Public Theater and in association with the faith-based Young Life ministry. She is now a finalist for the Gatorade national honor, which will be announced later this month.
