Huggins, Stewart term sheets at a glance

A look at the term sheets of West Virginia basketball coach Bob Huggins and football coach Bill Stewart. The university released the term sheets Wednesday after The Associated Press filed a Freedom of Information Act request:

Bob Huggins

  • Signed: April 5, 2007
  • Expires: April 5, 2012
  • Base salary: $150,000
  • Supplementary income: $550,000, with $20,000 increases in each subsequent year, for television, radio and Internet programs; apparel and shoe agreement; a minimum of 12 appearances at events sponsored by the Mountaineer Athletic Club or WVU-affiliated organizations and sponsors.
  • Perks: Use of two cars; membership at Lakeview Resort; 20 tickets to each home men's basketball game; six tickets to each home football game; participation in standard university insurance, retirement and employee benefit programs.
  • Retention incentives: $100,000 bonus if employed by the university on Sept. 1, 2009. Increases to $200,000 on Sept. 1, 2010 through 2012.
  • Camps: Required to operate at least one basketball camp and is entitled to the net profit after paying expenses and costs.
  • Incentives: Progressive-scale bonus for Big East regular-season finish, from $5,000 for fourth place to $20,000 for first place; $15,000 for Big East tournament runner-up finish and $20,000 for tournament championship; NCAA tournament appearances, from $10,000 for first round to $50,000 for a national championship; $5,000 for a National Invitation Tournament appearance and $10,000 for an NIT championship; $5,000 if season-ticket sales exceed 5,000, $10,000 if they exceed 6,000; $15,000 for Big East coach of the year, $25,000 for national coach of the year; $5,000 for NCAA academic performance rating of at least 925, or $10,000 for APR of at least 950.

  • Base salary: $150,000
  • Supplementary income: $550,000, with $50,000 increases in each subsequent year, for television, radio and Internet programs; apparel and shoe agreement (Nike); at least one on-campus summer camp; a minimum of 20 appearances at events sponsored by the Mountaineer Athletic Club or WVU-affiliated organizations and sponsors; one personal appearance each on behalf of Coca-Cola, United Bank and Nike.
  • Perks: Use of two cars; membership at Lakeview Resort; 20 tickets to each home football game; six tickets to each home men's basketball game; participation in standard university insurance, retirement and employee benefit programs.
  • Retention incentives: $100,000 bonus if employed by the university on Sept. 1, 2008, and each year thereafter.
  • Camps: May operate one or more football camps-clinics on campus and is entitled to the net profit after paying expenses and costs.
  • Incentives: Progressive-scale bonus for regular-season wins, from $25,000 for nine wins to $100,000 for 12 wins; Big East Conference finish, from $50,000 for runner-up to $75,000 for a championship; postseason appearances, from $25,000 for a non-BCS bowl to $100,000 for the national championship game; $150,000 for a national championship; $10,000 for more than 30,000 season-ticket sales, or $20,000 if season-ticket sales exceed 35,000; $25,000 for a top 10 final ranking; $25,000 for national coach of the year; $20,000 for team grade-point averages of 2.65 or better in the fall and spring semesters combined, or $30,000 for a 3.0 GPA or better; $10,000 for NCAA academic performance rating of at least 925, or $20,000 for APR of at least 950.
  • Staff: $1.3 million pool for nine assistant coaches and one strength coach; $60,000 for director of football operations, and $35,000 for video coordinator. Annual increases in salary will be no less than the same percentage given to university administrative personnel. Each assistant will be provided a car.
