Two West Virginia players, defensive end Bruce Irvin and cornerback Keith Tandy, and Marshall defensive end Vinny Curry have been named to the watch list for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy, awarded annually to college football's best defensive player by the Football Writers Association of America.
Irvin finished second in the nation with 14 sacks in 2010 while Tandy tied for fifth nationally in passes defended (17) and tied for 10th in interceptions (six). Curry led Conference USA with 12 sacks last season.
The three seniors are among 87 players on the Nagurski Trophy watch list. Five finalists will be announced Nov. 17, and the winner will be named Dec. 12.
