Mountaineers get commitment from Huntington Prep’s Macon
Advertiser

West Virginia basketball coach Bob Huggins has landed a commitment from four-star recruit Elijah Macon, according to Huntington Prep coach Rob Fulford.

Macon is a power forward originally from Ohio's Columbus Marion-Franklin High who committed to the Mountaineers once before until reopening the process in March of 2010.

Scout.com rates Macon as the nation's 13th-best at power fordward.

Known as a long, athletic player, Macon was also recruited by Pittsburgh and Maryland, among others.

"Elijah is a very athletic, step-out [power forward] who can score," Fulford said. "His ability to put the ball on the floor and make plays will be a problem at the next level.

"Elijah is a very aggressive offensive and defensive player that's contagious to teammates. He gives WVU a much-needed skilled 'big' who can play away from the basket as well as bully guys on the post when needed."

Macon averaged 15 points as a freshman at Huntington Prep and played for the All-Ohio Red AAU team.
