No reason for fans to sour on Orange Bowl

Just like WVU's Tavon Austin.

The difference is the Mountaineers have Stedman Bailey, who has better per-catch and per-game stats than both Austin and Watkins.

If you're sharp, you're probably pointing to the teams' lines. And Clemson probably has more individual talent there.

Weird thing is, WVU's offensive line allowed fewer sacks than that of Clemson. And, on the other side, the Mountaineer defense fared better against the rush, had more tackles for loss and sacks.

I'm not declaring WVU's fronts better. Just sayin'.

If you want to examine the teams in regard to pass defense, well, there's no comparison. The Mountaineers are ranked higher in pass defense and pass defense efficiency.

So there are plenty of reasons for WVU fans to perk up. And did I mention the game's in Miami?

Clemson's coach, Dabo Swinney, certainly took note. Said he after the Tigers' win over Virginia Tech in the ACC title game:

"Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to announce I will be taking my Clemson talents to South Beach."

Fun reference to LeBron James' "decision."

Appropriate. Because it's time for the teams - and fans - to have some fun.
