MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- The West Virginia University Foundation says it's now three-quarters of the way to meeting its fundraising goal of $750 million.

The foundation says the "State of Minds" campaign had raised $569 million from alumni and supporters as of Sept. 30.

The campaign started silently in July 2007, launching publicly this past June.

Foundation President Wayne King says the figures reflect the loyalty and passion of WVU's donors.

Major gifts so far include: $1.5 million from Doug and Pam Van Scoy to the College of Business and Economics; $250,000 to the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources from Greg and Carla Babe; and several contributions to the WVU Alumni Association to help retire construction debt.

It's the largest private fundraising campaign in WVU history and runs through December 2015.
