DANIELS - David Bradshaw's quest to play in the inaugural PGA Greenbrier Classic continues.
Bakerton's Bradshaw, a five-time winner of the West Virginia Open, tied for third with a 4-under-par 68 in the Greenbrier Classic prequalifier held Thursday on the Cobb Course at Glade Springs.
A total of 29 golfers advanced to the Greenbrier Classic open qualifier set for Monday, also on the Cobb Course. An expected field of about 50-to-60 golfers in the open qualifier competes for four spots into the July 29-Aug. 1 Greenbrier Classic on the Old White Course.
Nick Little of Crozet, Va., led the prequalifier with a 6-under 66. Hampton Ballard of Pearisburg, Va., was second at 67, followed by Bradshaw and Stephen Gangluff of Charlottesville, Va., at 68. Gangluff fired a 7-under 29 on the back nine.
Six West Virginia golfers were among the 29 to advance.
Besides Bradshaw, the group includes another five-time State Open winner in Brad Westfall of Grafton (71), who finished in a tie for eighth, Jordan Jarrett of Daniels (73), Justin Windon of Lewisburg (77), Jeffrey Bryant of South Charleston (79) and Monte Chittum of St. Albans (80).
The Cobb Course, which played at 7,009 yards Thursday, is expected to move some tee boxes back and play at about 7,100 yards on Monday.
