HONOLULU (AP) - One of two venture capital groups based in Honolulu is supporting Democrat Mufi Hannemann for governor.
The Venture Capital Association of Hawaii on Thursday announced its endorsement of the former Honolulu mayor over Democrat Neil Abercrombie.
Executive Director Larry Harmon says in a statement that the group's members have been impressed with Hannemann's advocacy of the planned Honolulu rail project and his experience leading a major city.
A separate group, the Hawaii Venture Capital Association, in July endorsed Abercrombie.
The victor of the Sept. 18 Democratic primary will face the Republican nominee, likely Lt. Gov. James "Duke" Aiona.
