Charleston felon admits to having a gun
CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A Charleston woman with a prior felony conviction admitted in federal court Monday that she pawned her ex-husband’s pistol.
Kristie Dorado, 29, also known as Kristie Jo Carter, pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm.
On Oct. 8, Dorado pawned a semi-automatic pistol at a Charleston pawn shop, according to a news release from U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin’s office.
Dorado was prohibited from possessing the gun because she was convicted of first-degree robbery in 2009 in Kanawha Circuit Court.
She faces up to 10 years in prison when she’s sentenced July 16.
