St. Albans-area shooting suspect identified
Putnam County authorities have identified a man they believe was involved in a shooting near St. Albans on Wednesday.
William Clayton Larck, 28, of Woods Drive near St. Albans, was arrested and charged with attempted murder following a shooting incident at about 7 p.m. Wednesday at Larck’s home, said Sgt. Lisa Arthur of the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department.
Arthur said Larck allegedly got into an argument with his mother Wednesday evening, sped off, then came back later and crashed his vehicle into the house. He then allegedly opened fire with a .45-caliber semi-automatic handgun, striking his uncle in the neck and arm.
Larck then allegedly fled, but was caught along Strawberry Road a short time later. Larck's uncle was alert and talking when paramedics arrived.
Kanawha County sheriff's deputies responded to the shooting, but turned the case over to Putnam County officials after it was discovered the house was in Putnam County.
Larck was awaiting arraignment this morning in Putnam County Magistrate Court.
