Area roundup: Lightning plays at UC Stadium tonight
The West Virginia Lightning seeks to run its record to 3-0 tonight when it takes on the East Tennessee Pirates in a World Class Football League game at 7:30 p.m. at University of Charleston Stadium.
The Pirates bring a 1-0 mark into the contest.
Tickets are priced at $8 for adults and $6 for students. Children ages 6 and under will be admitted free with a paying adult.
WVU SPORTS: HERD BASEBALL: YMCA RUN: The Kanawha Valley YMCA will hold its annual Spring Thaw 5-kilometer race today at the Coonskin Park Clubhouse. Registration starts at 8 a.m. with the race starting at 9 a.m. In addition to the traditional 5K run, two new options have been added this year — a 3K Run and a 1K Kids Fun Run. Children will enjoy an obstacle course on the soccer field as well as other activities. Fees for the 5K race are $25 for members and $30 for non-members; 3K fees are $10 for members and $15 for non-members, and 1K fees for kids are $1 per person. Prizes will be awarded to the overall male and female winners. Each youth that participates in the kids run will receive a medal.
