Two hospitalized after alleged stabbing
Two men were taken to the hospital Sunday morning after a fight allegedly escalated into a stabbing.
The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office responded shortly before 3 a.m. to Wise Acres Drive, off of Greenbrier Street in Charleston. Deputies believe Jerry M. Shaffer, Jason Allen Wright and a third person, who was not identified, got in a fight.
Deputy J. M. Martin found Shaffer, 31, of Elkview, lying near a car with a stab wound to his neck, bleeding profusely.
Shaffer said Wright, 33, of Summersville, stabbed him, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Wright, who was also injured in his face and head, was taken to Saint Francis Hospital for evaluation and treatment before being arraigned on a charge of malicious assault.
Shaffer is under evaluation at the intensive care unit at Charleston Area Medical Center.
