Beckley sex offender arrested in Detroit
DETROIT -- U.S. marshals in Detroit have arrested a Beckley man who allegedly failed to update his address in the sex-offender registry.
Christopher Lee Preston, 35, was being held Friday in Michigan awaiting an extradition hearing to West Virginia, according to a news release issued on Friday by the U.S. Marshals Service.
Preston was previously convicted of third-degree sexual abuse involving a child and narcotics trafficking. On Thursday, police received a tip that Preston fled to Detroit with his girlfriend, according to the release. Preston must update police before he moves or travels.
