Raymond I. Casto

Raymond Ira Casto, 90, of Ravenswood, Jackson County, W.Va., passed away April 25, 2014, in Ravenswood Village, Ravenswood.

He was born April 4, 1924, in Given, the son of the late Winfield Scott and Evelyn (Rollins) Casto. Preceding him in death are his wife, Irene Leone (Williams) Casto; brothers, Hartford, Russell and Racil Casto; sisters, Pearly Casto and Glenva Donohew; and an infant sibling.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran and a member of Ravenswood VFW Post No. 6669. He served his country during World War II and received a Purple Heart. He was a former employee for Farmers Building and Loan, Ravenswood, land man for Peake Energy and Chem Gas, real estate appraiser and draftsman. He attended Independent United Brethren Church, Ravenswood. He enjoyed flying.

Survivors include his sons, Danny Ray (Cindy) Casto, Joe Michael (Sandy) Casto and Leslie Scott Casto all of Ravenswood; grandchildren, Bettina (Casto) Hersman, Caleb Casto, Seth Casto, Jessica Casto; and five great grandchildren.

Service will be 2 p.m. Monday, April 28 at Casto Funeral Home Chapel, Ravenswood with Pastor Anton Hager officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Given. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Email condolences may be sent to castofh@gmail.com.
