Family hike

Charleston Montessori School will have its final hike in the 2014 Life’s a Hike series beginning at 10:30 a.m. Saturday on Kanawha State Forest’s CCC Snipe Trail. The ¾-mile interpretive trail is behind the pool and is rated easy. The trail is paved for strollers and wheelchairs. For more information, call 304-340-9000 or visit www.educatewv.com.

SC library program

The South Charleston Public Library will have a mixed-media necklace class for adults at 11 a.m. Saturday at the library, 312 Fourth Ave. Ellie Marshall will teach the class. To register, call the library at 304-744-6561.

International sorority

Preceptor Alpha chapter of Beta Sigma Phi International Sorority will meet at 6 p.m. Monday for dinner at Los Amigos restaurant. Charlotte Bowling will conduct a short business meeting. Louisa Burdette will be hostess and present a program on Cinco de Mayo.

Malden PSD

Malden Public Service District board of commissioners will have its regular meeting at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at the district office, in the administrative building at the treatment facility.

Senior Services picnic

Kanawha Valley Senior Services will have its annual free picnic from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday at Shawnee Park, Institute. Welcoming ceremonies will take place at 10:30 a.m. Food, games, entertainment, a cake walk, prizes, local vendors and seniors-oriented agency representatives will be featured. The Road Runners Band will perform. Hot dogs, barbecues, drinks and watermelon will be served. For information, call 304-348-0707.

Library committees

A joint meeting of the Finance and Personnel committees of the Kanawha County Public Library will take place at 4 p.m. Wednesday in the John V. Ray Room, third floor, Main Library, 123 Capitol St. For information, call 304-343-4646.
