The undead invade Charleston with Saturday’s Zombiefest

The undead invade Camp Virgil Tate near Charleston when The Haunted Barn hosts Zombiefest on Saturday. The activity begins early with a regular 5K run from 7 to 10 a.m. and a 5K bike race from noon to 2 p.m. Also starting at noon are a series of concerts from The Renfields (pictured), Dead Face Down and Fully Justified as well as celebrity meet-and-greets from some famous faces in the world of horror. Then, if a regular 5K isn’t enough for you, race for your life in the 5K zombie run from 4 to 7 p.m. Immediately following that and running until midnight is an after party that features music by Bobaflex, Dead Serious and StychNtyme, plus continued celebrity meet-and-greets. Guests scheduled to appear are legendary actor/director/special effects and makeup artist Tom Savini, Tyler Mane (Michael Myers in Rob Zombie’s “Halloween” remakes), Savana Jade Wehunt (The Governor’s daughter, Penny, in “The Walking Dead”), Tamara Glynn (“Halloween 5”), pro wrestler The Stro, Charleston native Russ McCubbin (“Sudden Impact”), White Sulphur Springs’ Jeremy Ambler (who has appeared on “The Walking Dead”) and Goldie Fatale and Andie Noir of Fatale Noir Productions. Tickets are $20 for general admission (including the after party), $45 for the bike race, $55 for the regular 5K and $75 for the zombie 5K (which includes the after party).
