South Charleston council approves HVAC bid

At its regular meeting Thursday night, the South Charleston City Council unanimously approved a $25,977 bid from Johnson Controls for a new 25 ton police station HVAC system by a roll call vote.

In other business, council:

n Set the ribbon cutting ceremony for the opening of the new Weberwood Fire Station for Saturday, May 24 at 11 a.m. to be followed by an open house until 6 p.m.

n Announced a recreation plan for Glendale Park for a new playground, walking park, shelter and additional parking has been submitted and construction should begin in October.

n Reminded residents that they will be receiving a letter regarding the option to purchase utility insurance policy by a third party provider.

n Reminded residents that the 55th annual Armed Forces Day parade on Saturday, May 17 will be televised by Suddenlink Communications on Channel 2 and Tri-States CW on Channel 6 at various times during the Memorial Day weekend.
