Robbery at knifepoint reported in St. Albans

By Staff reports

ST. ALBANS, W.Va. -- Kanawha County sheriff's deputies are investigating a reported robbery and kidnapping in St. Albans this morning.

A store manager at the 7-Eleven convenience store on West Main Street told Metro 911 dispatchers he had gone to his car with a store deposit a little before 9:15 a.m., Capt. Sean Crosier of the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department said. The manager intended to take the deposit to the bank, but a man was waiting in the car’s back seat with a knife, he told dispatchers.

The man, who was wearing a black-and-green ski mask, forced the manager to drive to an isolated area on Strawberry Road along the Coal River, Crosier said. The man then punched the manager and fled with the money.

Anyone with information should contact deputies at 304-357-0169 or kanawhasheriff.us. All tips can remain anonymous.
