CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — A Harrison County contractor will spend at least three years in prison for defrauding customers.
James Howard Holtzman was sentenced Thursday in Harrison County Circuit Court to three to 30 years in prison. The 40-year-old Mount Claire resident had been convicted on fraudulent scheme and uttering charges.
Chief assistant prosecutor Susan Morris tells The Exponent Telegram that Holtzman took money from two customers for work that he didn’t perform.
Morris says Holtzman also wrote forged checks on a deceased individual’s account and on a closed account that was not his. He also stole and wrote checks for a current account.
Morris says Holtzman also faces charges in Monongalia, Marion and Preston County. He’s awaiting sentencing in Taylor County.
