Pets of the Week: Good things in small packages
CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The owners of larger animals may beg to differ, but this week’s Pets of the Week honorees certainly suggest that good things do, in fact, come in small packages.
Dexter is a 4-year-old Lhasa apso/Shih Tzu combo who lives with Carol Cordell in South Charleston. Carol says Dexter is loyal and protective, and rules the roost — tolerating his feline companion but never accepting her unruly behavior.
Baby Cat Lamb is a 3-year-old Siamese whose owner, Robin Manning, insists she has “attitude” written all over her. Though Robin handles the household bills, Baby Cat “is the chief resident” and is “highly talkative and opinionated.”
Ruby is an 11-year-old cocker spaniel who lives with Fay Jack in Dunbar. Fay says Ruby is her “little helper” and enjoys, ahem, “pre-washing” the dishes. Go, Ruby!
Sir Maxwell Michail, aka Max, is a 13-month-old schnauzer who lives with Michael and Debi Jones Baldwin, of Charleston. In his early puppyhood, Max was sometimes mistaken for a stuffed animal, and enjoyed riding and napping in his mom’s purse or going to the mall. Neighbors take note: He also hates to be ignored, so when people pass by and don’t acknowledge him, Max runs the length of the porch yapping his head off to let them know how insulted he feels.
