Mercer man sentenced to 75 years on sex charges
PRINCETON, W.Va. — A Mercer County man has been sentenced to 75 years in prison for sexual assault and child pornography.
A Mercer County jury convicted John Spaulding, 41, of Montcalm on three first-degree sexual assault counts and 50 possession of child pornography counts in April.
Media outlets report that Spaulding was sentenced Wednesday in circuit court.
Spaulding’s attorney, Harold B. Wolfe II, argued that his client had been set up by co-defendant Kimberly Cox.
The 38-year-old Nemours woman was sentenced in January to up to 55 years in prison. She had pleaded guilty to first-degree sexual assault and sexual assault by a parent, guardian or custodian.
