Huntington closes 2 bars for failing to pay tax
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Two bars in downtown Huntington have been closed for failing to pay the city’s business and occupation tax.
City spokesman Bryan Chambers told media outlets police have responded to more than two dozen calls at one of the bars in recent months.
Chambers says the bars can reopen when they pay the back taxes or set up a payment plan with the city. Under state law, he says the city can’t release how much money is owed by either bar.
