Annual Art & Craft Fair kicks off Thursday
Now in its 51st year, the annual Mountain State Art & Craft Fair runs Thursday through Saturday at Cedar Lakes in Ripley. More than 100 artisans will display their wares — and in many cases, demonstrate their craft — including Appalachian Glass in Weston (pictured). There’s plenty of live music, too, with young bluegrass duo Marteka and William Lake on Thursday, hammer dulcimer player Scott Cain on Friday and the Laurel Creek Bluegrass Band on Saturday; all perform multiple shows. Other activities include Civil War-era camp tours, infantry unit presentations, square dances and a Stonewall Jackson re-enactor; kite workshops and shows; a youth fishing derby; a petting zoo; an archery tournament and open shooting; a chili cook-off; and hunting dog, cooking and sheep shearing demonstrations. Admission is $6 for adults, $5 for seniors and $2 for children ages 6-12; children 5 and under are admitted free. Group discounts are available. Visit www.msacf.com or call 304-372-3247.
