Fourth of July dog parade
The Seventh Annual Fourth of July Dog Parade will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, July 4, in front of Good Living Assisted Living at 4017 Salines Drive in Malden. All canines and their two-legged friends are invited to participate. Treats and water will be available for dogs and their owners. Prizes will be awarded following the parade. Inner listening class
Unity of Kanawha Valley will sponsor an Inner Listening Class at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 5, at the church, 804 Myrtle Road, corner of Bridge and Myrtle roads. Marianne Gettman will be this month’s speaker. The class consists of mindful breathing exercises, stretching, meditations and Qigong Flow. The class is on a love offering basis only. There is no cover charge. Inner Listening is on the first Saturday of each month.
The Kanawha Kordsmen, Greater Kanawha Valley Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society, invites men who like to sing acapella-style harmony to its next meeting at 7:15 p.m. Monday, July 7, at the Columbia Gas Transmission Auditorium, 1700 MacCorkle Ave. S.E. Meet the author
Kanawha County Public Library will have a Meet the Author event with Billy Joe Peyton at 12:10 p.m. Wednesday at the Main Library and at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, at Cross Lanes Branch Library. Through the words and images of Billy Joe Peyton, participants will get glimpses of Charleston’s past from his new book, “Historic Charleston: The First 225 Years.” Peyton will recount some of the extraordinary moments in the city’s past and share details about some little known historical secrets of the capital city. The program is for adults.
