Hickory hands Power fifth straight loss
Jario Beras belted a three-run home run in the top of the ninth as Hickory handed West Virginia a 6-1 loss Thursday at Appalachian Power Park, extending the Power’s losing streak to five games.
Akeen Bostick (5-3) earned the win, allowing three hits over five scoreless innings for the Crawdads (54-30 overall, 13-2 second half). Dovydas Neverauskas (4-7) was tabbed with the loss, his sixth in his last seven decisions, giving up two runs (both unearned) on three hits while walking five and striking out three for West Virginia. Chris Diaz was the only Power player with a multi-hit game, going 2 for 4 with a double.
The Power (28-55, 8-7) hit the road for a three-game series with Greensboro at 7:05 tonight.
